ABOUT THE EVENT
Start with stereo.
End with immersive.
Most theatre sound professionals are still working in stereo. Not because they don’t know better, but because stereo is the reality of most deployments. Beyond Stereo starts there and demonstrates what’s possible beyond it.
Led by spatial audio practitioner Phil Wright , the session draws on real-world experience of object-based mixing in professional theatre, from the constraints of stereo-only deployments to the full potential of an immersive system. No demo rigs. No simulated scenarios. Just a working production, a real system, and a workflow that changes what stereo is capable of.
THE SESSION
Three Acts. One Workflow.
The session is structured as a progressive journey, moving from the familiar to the transformative, using the same PA and signal chain throughout.
01
ACT 1
THE REALITY
Mixing in Stereo Only
Live demo using L/R mains only. A shared professional truth: limited localisation, a narrow sweet spot, and level-based panning.
This is where most theatre productions still live, and where the conversation starts.
02
ACT 2
THE BREAKTHROUGH
Stereo + TiMax SoundHub
Immersive results without an immersive PA.
TiMax SoundHub’s object-based delay matrix shifts spatial imaging from level-based to time-based, expanding the sweet spot and adding depth and stability across the same system.
03
ACT 3
THE THEATRE IDEAL
Full Immersive Deployment at RADA
The full system, surrounds, downfills, overheads, during an active student production.
The same workflow principles from Acts 1 and 2, expanded across a complete loudspeaker canvas serving a real show.
TiMax panLab Ultimate Licence Prize Draw
A prize draw on the day gives attendees the chance to take home a complimentary licence worth £329.99.
