AUDIO ACÚSTICA Y ELECTRÓNICA CELEBRATES 30 YEARS WITH MARTIN AUDIO IN MEXICO
Founded with a mission to bring comprehensive, high-quality sound solutions to the Mexican market, Audio Acústica y Electrónica was established in 1979 by Javier Posada Morales and Francisco Aguilar Barraza. In fulfilling that vision, the company has now proudly championed Martin Audio’s pioneering technology for over three decades.
Javier Roberto Posada Morales, Director of Audio Acústica y Electrónica and son of founder Javier Posada Morales, begins by describing the start of the company’s relationship with Martin Audio: “As our clients' needs grew in Mexico, we naturally gravitated towards brands that shared our passion for technical excellence,” he says. “It was a definitive turning point for us. We have been by Martin Audio’s side since the era of the W8C launched in 1996, building those legendary 'walls of sound' that defined a generation.”
Audio Acústica y Electrónica later introduced line array technology to the country with the iconic W8L, launched in 2002, before bringing the groundbreaking MLA Multicellular Loudspeaker Array technology, launched in 2010, to Mexico. “Seeing massive touring companies and festivals adopt it and realising the unprecedented control and coverage it offered completely shifted the paradigm of live sound in our country,” Posada Morales describes.
Today, the company works with the entire Martin Audio catalogue, from the ADORN series all the way up to today’s WP (Wavefront Precision). The CDD series and O-Line models are frequent choices for installation projects - such as their recent deployment at Auditorio Catalá - alongside the Blackline series for luxury hospitality, corporate spaces, auditoriums, and high-end nightclubs.
That’s why Martin Audio makes sure there are no weak links.
In the touring and large-scale live event sector, Audio Acústica y Electrónica relies heavily on the WPL, WPM, and WPS lines, along with XE stage monitors, deploying them at major festivals, arenas, and tours across the country.
It is a loyalty that stems from a very personal history, as Posada Morales recalls: “Years ago, during a trip to Europe, my father heard Martin Audio speakers and completely fell in love with their sound. At that time, they weren't exporting to the Americas yet. My father sought out and contacted Robert Lingfield to request the distribution rights. To be honest, they didn't pay much attention to us at first!
“Then when testing the W8C paired with the MSX, we realised that for the Latin market, an extra presence of low frequencies was absolutely necessary. So, we drafted and sent them a design for a double 18-inch subwoofer. Their response was that they thought it was too much power for a sub in that line, but if we committed to buying a sufficient quantity, they would manufacture it for us.”
And that is how the now legendary WS218X was born. “It was originally intended to be named the WS218MX - with the 'M' standing for Mexico,” he adds. “That subwoofer went on to become one of the brand's best-selling products globally.”
Since that pivotal moment, Audio Acústica has been a fiercely loyal ally of Martin Audio. “The human element has always been crucial for us, and this shared history makes us feel like true partners, not just distributors,” Posada Morales notes.
Looking to the future, the company's focus revolves heavily around education, specifically regarding the concept of numerical optimisation. “We believe that the industry hasn't fully grasped just how revolutionary and useful this new technology and its underlying mathematics truly are. At Audio Acústica, our mission is to ensure that every Mexican engineer gets to know, understand, and truly experience this technology firsthand.”
He concludes by reflecting on the core philosophy that binds the two companies: “I often think back to a conversation my father and I had with Robert Lingfield in our early days. We were so amazed by the sound quality of the speakers that we called him up, trying to get him to reveal his 'secret'. Robert's answer was brilliantly simple: 'When every single component - from the paint and the wood to the driver itself - is of the highest quality, the end result will be of high quality. Audio is a chain, and it breaks at the weakest link. That's why Martin Audio makes sure there are no weak links.'
“That philosophy aligns perfectly with our core values at Audio Acústica: professionalism, discipline, and a passion for delivering on our promises. Martin Audio remains our primary brand because it offers a complete, reliable, and innovative ecosystem built on that very premise. No matter how complex the acoustic challenge is, they give us the technology to solve it gracefully, ensuring that people can truly connect, feel, and enjoy the sound.
