INSYNC AND MARTIN AUDIO SUPPORT OBAMA INAUGURATION

Production company celebrates three nights in a row at Royal Lancaster

One of the many high-profile celebrations for the appointment of President Obama and Vice President Biden on January 20 was the Democrats Abroad London Inaugural Ball, held in the Royal Lancaster Hotel's Nine Kings Suite.

The London event was one of many organised by Democrats Abroad around the world, and included footage of the inauguration ceremony plus a live band - with all the technical production infrastructure created and provided by Insync Productions, using a Martin Audio PA rig.

Insync's Managing Director Scott Tompkins said that although Martin Audio's Blackline system was installed to service the 1400 American guests (and their friends) the technical infrastructure actually remained in place for three consecutive nights at the hotel, as other events were planned.

While guests watched a recording of the Inauguration on Insync's double front-projection screen the speeches and recorded sound were relayed through a series of flown Martin Audio Blackline F12 and F8 enclosures, with floor-mounted WS218X subs providing bass extension. Stage monitoring was provided by Martin Audio's popular LE12JB wedges.

'Although in one sense putting in all the comms, video, stage, lighting and sound was standard fare for us, I have never done anything quite like this,' said Scott. 'Everyone was fixated on the screens during the inauguration, which took a feed from CNN.' Afterwards a live band performed for guests in the Westbourne Suite until 2am.

Insync Productions are long-term users of Martin Audio's proprietary sound reinforcement systems (including Line Arrays). The night following the President Obama celebration, the technical infrastructure serviced the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy charity dinner (featuring Heather Small), and 24 hours later was on duty again at a Thomson Reuters event.
