ISI TEAMS WITH MARTIN AUDIO AT SPRING FASHION WEEK
Ironman Sound Industries recently teamed up with Contemporary Productions to present a dynamic "St. Louis Fashion Week––Spring 2009" at the Lumiere Casino, which encompassed six fashion-forward shows in five days for over 2,000 guests. The pivotal Midwest fashion event featured contests for up and coming designers with a $30,000 Grand Prize, multimedia interactive art, music and dance installations, and major shows from Macys, FGI Fashion Group, Diesel, top designers like Lori Coulter (made-to-order swimwear), and "cult labels" like Wrath Arcane, Bolongaro Trevor and Love Brigade. Typically, ISI provided complete audio, video and lighting production support for the high profile presentation from initial design through execution. In fact, ISI Production Manager Nick Barnes mentions that he and his crew even "hung black drapery around the room to make it look darker."
In terms of the lighting, Nick says 'the runway was illuminated with over 60 Source4 PARs along with 20 ISI-furnished Martin Stagebar 54 fixtures to add a little splash to the runway entrance. These provided the color and punch that the producers were looking for, while being small enough to mount behind the scenic walls.'
Asked about the audio for an event where speech and music reproduction were paramount in importance for the client, Barnes describes the basic sound system as 'four Martin Audio W8LCs and two WS218X subs a side, plus four WT3s, all powered by Lab Gruppen PLM 1000s. We used a Yamaha MC7L to mix the show.
'The system was primarily designed to provide a music program while the models were on the runway,' Nick adds. 'The client was very pleased with the intelligibility of the speech and music. There were a lot of techno tracks from the DJ that come through really well when the sound is crystal clear. We also grouped all of the 218Xs under the DJ riser side by side on the floor and it worked really well. The sound was definitely bumpin' all over the room!'
