LAUNCHED AT RED BULL STUDIOS USES LE MONITORS
In early January, saw the return of Launched at Red Bull Studio - the Channel 4 tastemaker music show that saw a host of up and coming artists receiving a kick start into 2014, courtesy of well-known musician fans and ambassadors. And Martin Audio LE Monitors were also on hand to provide some power and control thanks to their Differential Dispersion horns, which allow performers to be able to move over a wide area without hearing significant changes in frequency response or SPL.
The ambassadors for the show's third series were Rudimental, Rita Ora, Mark Owen, Yannis Philippakis (Foals), Malay, Guy Lawrence (Disclosure), Will Kennard (Chase & Status), Tom Odell and Bastille front man Dan Smith who makes his second appearance, returning as an ambassador following a high flying 2013 that began on Launched.
The 10 new artists featured in 2014 were:
Sam Smith - the 23 year-old who's already seen success featuring on hit singles by Naughty Boy and Disclosure.
Ella Eyre - the 19-year-old Rudimental, Tinie Tempah and Naughty Boy vocal collaborator.
George Ezra - also aged 19, this singer songwriter has recently toured with Tom Odell.
Joel Compass - the multi-talented singer, songwriter and producer hails from the impressive Black Butter camp, who brought the world Rudimental amongst others.
Royal Blood - this two-piece (Mike and Ben) from Brighton formed less than 12 months ago. They support Arctic Monkeys next year in Finsbury Park
Gorgon City - also known as Matt & Kye, these North London producers are also from the Black Butter crew. They count Annie Mac, Diplo, Eats Everything and Mistajam as fans
Elli Ingram - another 19 year-old vocalist. Brighton local Elli features on Chase & Status' recent Brand New Machine LP and performed during their headline Other Stage set at Glastonbury.
Linus Young - an LA based band, formed by Joseph Walker & Iris Belson. Joseph previously played guitar for Frank Ocean and the band recently toured with 2013 Launched act The 1975.
Amber Run - a five-piece originating from Nottingham. All aged 20, they proudly played their fourth and fifth gigs as a band at Leeds and Reading festivals.
Max Marshall - the Baltimore-born, east London-based singer who's recently graduated from fashion school. She's been songwriting since the age of 14.
Launched is presented by Radio 1's Annie Mac. She says, "It's always great to be a part of Launched. It's such a brilliant platform for new artists; nearly all those we are featuring this year are doing their first TV interviews with us. It's so exciting to catch them on the cusp of their careers blowing up in 2014."
Amongst the acts to pass through the studio show in its first two series were Brit and Mercury nominated singers Jessie Ware and Laura Mvula, as well as album chart topping bands Bastille and The 1975. Famous ambassadors lending their tips to the show in the past two years include Gary Barlow, Katy B, Ed Sheeran, The Vaccines and Plan B.
Filmed at Red Bull Studios in London, the five half hour episodes of Launched aired over five weeks. Each episode showcased two acts and saw Annie Mac delving into each act's road to success and letting them loose in the world class studio to perform. Launched is the second longest running current terrestrial music series behind Later with Jools Holland. These half hour episodes can now be viewed online at redbullstudios.com/london
