MARTIN AUDIO PRIORITISES TRAINING AT FIRST SOUND:CHECK XPO PARTICIPATION

For the first time ever, Proactive Latin America, Martin Audio’s regional base for Latam & Caribbean, participated independently at the Sound:Check Xpo in Mexico City.

Held annually at the Exhibition and Convention Centre (part of the World Trade Centre), the goal for Martin Audio LATAM director, Berenice Gutiérrez and her team was to stage an educational programme of conferences across the three-day event, which then continued for an additional day at the company’s HQ in Mexico City.

Supported by Tech Sales Director, Oscar Tovar, Berenice set out to demonstrate the merits of Martin Audio and sister brand, Optimal Audio. “It was always our intention to carry out training seminars to explain the concepts of the principal Martin Audio systems, accompanied by a practical demonstration,” she explained.

The programme was carefully tailored to run for the duration of the expo, and all sessions from the first day onwards welcomed a large influx of attendees, predominantly from Mexico and Latam, USA.

On the first day Gutiérrez and Tovar presented the conference: ‘History of Martin Audio and its contributions to the Industry’. This was followed by a WPS and WPM Systems workshop, led by sound engineer Carlos Aldama, and ‘Success stories with the BlacklineX Powered System’ which brought together various specialists, users and owners, such as: Chemi Sopeña, producer of events and shows, DJ Víctor Millán and Alejandro Benítezs.

“It was a pleasure to share different options and advice for women in the industry”.

Other activities that stood out were the talks by Martin Audio partner, NTX Distribution, and women discussing their opportunities in the business, which really captured the imaginationof attendees. “We decided to give this talk because it is important to point out what there is, what has happened and what urgently needs to be changed in favour, not only of the industry but of women,” said Berenice Gutiérrez. She was privileged to have a number of prominent women participating, including long-serving journalist, Niza Sopeña, audio engineers, Cecilia Ruíz and Rayfa Reyes, Adriana Gaspar, Commercial Director of the National School of Audio and Music Production, ENAM and Mexican singer-songwriter and producer, Hannia Corey.

The second day began with the ‘Martin Audio Latam Continuous Training Seminar’, presented by Carlos Aldama and Oscar Tovar—an activity which brought together a large number of participants—and which ran over two days. NTX Distribution also continued with their workshop, whose objective was to promote the entire ecosystem of products.

Within the installation sector, NTX Distribution were able to demonstrate both the CDD and ADORN series as well as the SX series subwoofers over the three days. They also hosted a series of live DJ demonstrations, using MartinAudio's BlackLineX powered speakers, with an XP12 provided as a monitor for the participating DJ's.

After further talks on digital marketing and accountancy the second day closed with another outstanding talk, further dedicated to the role of women in this industry. “It was a pleasure to share different options and advice for women in the industry,” said Berenice.

The ‘Martin Audio LATAM Continuing Education Seminar’ conducted its second session on the third day, with great results. Attendees received recognition for this training, which saw the participation of personnel from different entities in Mexico as well as from Costa Rica, Guatemala and Colombia, while NTX Distribution’s showcase continued to draw crowds.

In charge of closing the programme was Oscar Tovar, with the talk: ‘Specialists on the Audio Industry in Mexico’, which was attended by numerous experienced audio engineers, who discussed the challenges they face.

Berenice thanked the organisers of Sound:Check Xpo and also praised the participation of Audio Acústica y Electrónica, who demonstrated the Martin Audio WPM. They not only equipped the Xpo’s main auditorium but demonstrated the WPM’s range with vocal performances by Alonso Arreola, Benny Ibarra and Fela Domínguez. The system also reinforced the Award Ceremony and various talks that took place.

“During these presentations WPM demonstrated its ability to handle a wide variety of musical genres and vocal styles, offering faithful and distortion-free audio reproduction. Furthermore, the speeches and announcements were heard with absolute clarity, and attendees were able to follow every word effortlessly,” she continued. “During the three days of the event, many attendees learnt the different solutions provided by Martin Audio, and were impressed with the power of the equipment and its aesthetics.”

Proclaiming the event an unqualified success, Berenice Gutiérrez concluded by praising Martin Audio for their support from the UK, especially MD, Dom Harter, International Sales Director Bradley Watson and Marketing Director James King. “We are already working on developing another interesting and intelligent programme for Sound:Check Xpo 2024.”
