The multi-purpose DD12 defines the ultimate in performance and versatility for powered, two-way loudspeaker systems. It combines onboard networking, DSP and Class D amplification with state-of-the-art transducers and Differential Dispersion™ horn technology to achieve best-in-class performance in terms of fidelity, output capability and coverage consistency across the audience.

  • Multi-purpose, bi-amplified, powered two-way system
  • Compact, multi-angle, polyurethane-coated plywood enclosure with screw-free perforated steel grille
  • User rotatable Differential Dispersion™ horn optimises coverage footprint across the audience plane
  • Onboard network, DSP and Class D amplification
  • Switched mode power supply with PFC (Power Factor Correction) and global mains operation
  • Wide range of vertical and horizontal deployment options
  • Integral pole mount and M8 rigging inserts

  • Live sound reinforcement
  • Theatre sound reinforcement
  • Fixed installations in concert halls and HoW
  • Corporate AV events
  • High-power stage monitoring
  • Frontfill/infill for large-scale systems

Versatility is a key attribute of the DD12. It is designed to meet a multitude of premium stand-alone and distributed sound reinforcement requirements — from touring, theatre and portable live sound applications, to concert hall and HoW installations, AV events and stage monitor use. Ideal as the main PA in small-to-medium size rooms, it can also be used as an infill loudspeaker in large-scale systems.

Every design effort has been focused on maximising the output of the drive units. The DD12 features a high-specification 12” (300mm) LF drive unit and a class-leading 1” (25mm) exit compression driver on a user-rotatable, Differential Dispersion horn. Differential Dispersion technology delivers more consistent audience coverage than systems with conventional X° x Y° horns — providing more throw to the rear to distribute sound evenly front-to-back, while having wider close-up horizontal coverage for the front rows.

The compact, multi-angle enclosure can be used in either vertical or horizontal orientation — with rotation of the HF horn easily accomplished by removing the steel grille, which is a spring-fit into the enclosure sides and pre-curved to resist damage on the road.

Architectural Specs

The loudspeaker shall be a self-powered two-way system. Its transducers shall consist of a reflex-loaded 12” low frequency driver and a coaxially-mounted 1” exit high frequency compression driver mounted on a high frequency Differential Dispersion horn. The horn shall be user-rotatable to enable vertical, horizontal and stage monitor operation.

Horizontal dispersion shall vary from 110° to 60° and vertical dispersion shall be 60°. The on-axis frequency response shall be 65Hz-18kHz +/- 3dB and the loudspeaker shall produce a maximum SPL of 131dB peak at 1 metre.

The loudspeaker shall incorporate a two-channel Class D amplifier module which shall deliver a total of 2100W peak output to the transducers and include onboard DSP and networking capabilities for remote control and monitoring. Its power supply shall employ Power Factor Correction and operate from 100-240V, 50-60Hz AC.

Audio connectors shall be male and female XLR type and the AC power connector shall be a Neutrik® Powercon True1. Network connectors shall be ODU type.

The loudspeaker enclosure shall be constructed from multi-laminate plywood with a black textured polyurethane coating and be fitted with a pole-mount socket, pocket handles and M8 threaded inserts for mounting accessories. An optional white finish shall be available to special order. The drivers shall be protected by a perforated steel grille with an acoustically-transparent foam backing.

When factory-fitted with an optional weather protection cowl, the loudspeaker shall meet an IP25 ingress protection rating.

Dimensions (W x H x D) shall be 360mm x 571mm x 384mm (14.2in x 22.5in x 15.1in). Dimensions with cowl (W x H x D) shall be 360mm x 571mm x 503mm (14.2in x 22.5in x 19.8in). Weight shall be 26kg (57.2lbs).

The loudspeaker shall be the Martin Audio DD12.
