Sound Systems for Nightclubs

The difference between loud and legendary is control.

Great clubs aren't the loudest rooms in town. They're the ones where every part of the floor gets the same sound, the bass moves people rather than walls, and the system is still clear at 3am. Martin Audio designs for that: powerful, distortion-free sound that immerses and energises the dancefloor, from the boutique club to the biggest room.

Unite your dancefloor

What a great club demands, and how Martin Audio delivers it

Power is nothing without control. Great club sound comes down to four things, and each one has to be designed in.

Consistent coverage across the dancefloor

Where it goes wrongHot spots and dead zones send dancers to the edges.

How we put it rightCDD, TORUS and Wavefront Precision shape coverage to the room, so the level and tone are the same wherever someone stands.

How it works

Coverage is designed, not left to chance. CDD's Differential Dispersion gives an even, rectangular pattern that holds through the crossover region, where ordinary two-way loudspeakers lose consistency. TORUS constant curvature arrays shape their coverage to the room with adjustable horizontal pattern. Wavefront Precision arrays are optimised in DISPLAY 3 for even level and consistent voicing across the floor.

Massive low end without fatigue

Where it goes wrongBass is everywhere, so it builds, smears and tires the ear.

How we put it rightPunchy subwoofers with controlled dispersion pull the low end onto the floor.

How it works

Control starts in the subwoofer. SXC118 is a cardioid subwoofer with front- and rear-facing drivers driven independently, delivering up to 28 dB of rear rejection at 75 Hz. More low end lands on the dancefloor, and less reaches the walls and the reverberant field. SXH218 brings real authority, with a peak SPL of 148 dB and controlled LF dispersion, so fewer subwoofers are needed to cover the dancefloor.

Clear mids at high SPL

Where it goes wrongUneven coverage and strained amplification make the DJ push the system, and the mids turn harsh.

How we put it rightEven coverage removes the reason to push, THS and Wavefront Precision deliver the level, and iKON's very low distortion keeps vocals and detail clean.

How it works

When coverage is uneven or headroom runs short, the answer is always “turn it up”. Even coverage removes the reason to push, and headroom sized to the room removes the risk when the night demands more. THS, a compact triaxial point source rated to 135 dB peak, keeps vocals and detail clear at club levels, and Wavefront Precision stacks do the same at larger scale. Driving them, iKON amplifiers keep total harmonic distortion very low, which is most noticeable in the mid and high frequencies, where vocals and detail stay clean as the level rises.

Reliability under sustained output

Where it goes wrongA system that's great on a Tuesday and gone on the busiest Saturday of the year.

How we put it rightTour-grade engineering with efficient and reliable amplification.

How it works

Loudspeaker engineering that has its roots in touring systems designed to be driven hard, night after night, combined with highly efficient iKON amplifiers, including limiting and protection that is musical, so it does not detract from the audio quality.

iKON amplification

The power behind the control

Control decides where the sound goes. The amplifier decides how much of it there is and how good it sounds when it gets there. iKON amplifiers are built around three ideas.

High power

Sustained power

Rated with all channels driven, so the power on the datasheet is the power in the rack, hour after hour. You hear it most in the low frequencies, where a system without reserve goes soft first.

High efficiency

Little lost as heat

Class D design means more of what you put in comes out as sound, with less heat for the rack to shed and less drawn from the mains.

High quality audio

Low distortion

Very low total harmonic distortion keeps the mids and highs clean as the level rises, which is where vocals and detail live.

THS and TORUS

THS is a compact, standalone triaxial point source capable of 135 dB peak, and adding an SX subwoofer makes it a four-way system with a small footprint. TORUS brings line-array clarity at mid-throw distances, as main PA or fill.

CDD, FlexPoint and BlacklineQ

CDD gives even, consistent coverage. FlexPoint delivers premium point source performance. BlacklineQ carries the Blackline series' long club pedigree forward, with signature sound at a more accessible price. Which one suits depends on the style of the room, the performance the music demands and the budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the size of the room and the music policy. Large rooms suit Wavefront Precision with SX subwoofers. Mid-size clubs suit THS and TORUS. Smaller clubs suit CDD, FlexPoint and BlacklineQ, depending on the style of the room, the performance required and the budget.

There's no single answer, because Martin Audio offers a range of solutions across budget levels, from compact point source systems through to full-scale arrays with SX subwoofers. The right choice follows the size of the room, the music policy and how much low end the dancefloor needs. A complimentary design shows what each approach would deliver, and a Martin Audio distributor or integrator provides the pricing.

Start with the room and the music. Define the coverage the dancefloor needs, choose and place the subwoofers deliberately, then model the system before anything is installed. DISPLAY 3 prediction software does that, and the system is then tuned on site.

By treating low end as a design problem. The SXC115 and SXC118 have cardioid control integrated into the cabinet, which directs low frequencies towards the floor and reduces the energy radiated behind them. Standard subwoofers can be arranged in a cardioid configuration too, though that takes more subs and more space.

Yes. FlexPoint and BlacklineQ work in both portable and installed systems, so a residency doesn't mean replacing what already works.
