- Theatres and churches
- Distributed systems in bars and restaurants
- Museum and gallery installations
- Immersive sound spaces
- Portable corporate AV events
- Discreet stage monitor
Its multi-angle enclosure with flexible mounting options makes for discreet integration within architectural spaces — from churches, museums and galleries to theatres, bars and restaurants. When supplemented by a subwoofer, it is an excellent choice for premium, short-throw corporate AV events and music playback systems. Being both portable and surprisingly powerful for its size, it can also be used as a fill loudspeaker within a larger touring or installed sound system.
The FP6 is a two-way passive loudspeaker featuring a high-specification 6” LF driver and a 0.7” exit HF driver with a 1.4” diameter high-temperature polymer dome. It delivers an impressive maximum SPL of 119dB peak and has a well-defined dispersion pattern of 100° horizontal x 80° vertical, with horizontal constant directivity characteristics.
Its exemplary dispersion pattern is achieved by incorporating a dedicated waveguide within the magnet structure which merges into a specially shaped, asymmetric LF cone. With the waveguide and cone combining to form the HF horn, this innovative arrangement avoids a separate ‘add-on’ horn which would impede the wavefront from the cone and cause irregularities in the frequency response. It also improves on conventional through-the-pole coaxial designs, which can suffer from high frequency beaming.
The FP6’s durable birch plywood enclosure is finished in hardwearing textured paint and incorporates multiple threaded inserts that facilitate a wide range of mounting options and accessories — including yoke, wall bracket, truss and mic stand mounting. A steel grille with a triple-layer polyester backing presents a discreet professional appearance while resisting dust and water ingress to IP54 environmental rating.
The FP6 can be used in either portrait or landscape orientation, including use as a discreet stage monitor, by rotating the driver within the enclosure. To make this quick and easy, the grille is secured by proprietary quick-release latches, and the driver fixed to the baffle by means of captive thumbwheels. Loosening these by hand allows the driver to be quickly rotated through 90° and re-tightened.
FP6 can be powered by iKON amplifiers, or by VIA amplifiers when used with a DX4.0 controller, or alternatively a DX0.4 or DX0.6 controller. FP6 systems can be modelled in 3D using Display 3 design and prediction software.
FlexPoint FP6
The loudspeaker shall be a passive, two-way coaxial system comprising a reflex-loaded 6” low frequency driver and a 1.4” dome/0.7” exit high frequency compression driver. The HF driver shall be loaded with a static waveguide which merges into the shaped asymmetric cone of the LF driver to define the HF horn geometry.
The dispersion pattern of the loudspeaker shall be 100° horizontal x 80° vertical, with horizontal constant directivity characteristics. The on-axis frequency response shall be 73Hz-20kHz +/- 3dB and the loudspeaker shall produce a maximum SPL of 119dB peak at 1 metre. Power handling shall be 150W AES, 600W peak. Rated impedance shall be 16 ohms.
The loudspeaker shall be operated in conjunction with a dedicated electronic controller or controller amplifier.
The multi-angle loudspeaker enclosure shall be constructed from plywood and finished with a hardwearing textured paint. It shall be fitted with threaded inserts to accommodate mic stand, eyebolt, yoke, wall bracket and rigging bar accessory options.
The coaxial driver shall be user-rotatable without tools to enable portrait or landscape deployment of the loudspeaker and shall be protected by a perforated steel grille with a triple-layer polyester backing.
The rear connector panel shall be fitted with two NLT4MP type connectors. Low and high frequency sections shall be integrated by an internal 2.3kHz passive crossover network.
Dimensions (W x H x D) shall be 321mm x 220mm x 197mm (12.6in x 8.7in x 7.8in). Weight shall be 5.5kg (12.1lbs).
The loudspeaker shall be the Martin Audio FlexPoint FP6.
FlexPoint systems support a flexible electronics package but must include either a Martin Audio DSP amplifier or controller in order to access settings.
For the optimum sound performance, Martin Audio iKON amplifiers with onboard DSP are recommended.
Alternatively, but for primarily installation projects, Martin Audio VIA amplifiers in conjunction with a DX4.0 system controller, or DX0.4 / DX0.6 controller will provide a more cost-effective option.
When used with iKON amplifiers or DX4.0 controllers, systems utilise Vu-Net. When used with DX0.4 or DX0.6 controllers, systems have standalone software.
